Growing up my parents were big on two things: (1) do
not embarrass them in public and (2) always respect your elders. Well one out of two is not bad huh 😂? Because if you know me, then you
know I am a clown 24/7 and I would embarrass them always lol. However, I was always respectful to my elders. You know the drill; “Yes sir/ma'am” or “No sir/ma'am”
and never get in grown folks talks. The
problem is, the older I get and the more I start noticing things or “Smelling myself” like the grown ups say lol; it becomes extremely
hard for me to even obey both rules instilled by my parents lol. First off, the older I got the crazier I got,
so I am quite sure I am embarrassing my parents daily; however, they still love
me. Now the respecting my elders one, that
is a hard one these days. I am in no way
or form disrespectful but sometimes elders can be out of hand. Is it just me, or do some (not all) elderly
people feel like they are entitled? Some
(again not all lol) feel like they can just talk to anyone any kind of way
because they are “old”. I am sorry but
that is not the case with me sir or madam lol.
Believe me, I understand that the elders need protecting and should be
marveled; however, I cannot get down with being belittled along the way. I feel like respect should go both
ways though. You know the saying? “Do unto others, as they do until you”. I like that one in conjunction with respecting
my elders lol. It just makes everything
run smoothly to me. Adulthood is a wild
ride and I still hate it here too btw (by the way) lol.
On that note, I want to end this rant on this thought: Respect my elders?
I respect whoever respects me, regardless of age 🤷 (mic drop).
No but really Trellie Trell loves and respects the older generation lol!!

I feel ya. I luv the elderly but I'm like you dont get it twisted, if you respect me, I will respect you.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!! I feel like sometimes they get out of hand and we just have to speak up "Respectfully" lol
