Who Wants Superpowers?

First off, Happy New Year to everyone!  I know it has been a while! Did you miss me? No, okay then 🙂 lol.

Secondly, I need to give thanks to Marvel for this topic's inspiration. Now on to the rant...What if I told you that we could have superpowers? What would yours be? What would you do with these powers?  With great power comes great responsible or whatever 🙄 lol. I bet if we asked the younger version of you these same questions, all answers would be different 😆.  For example, let's say I wanted the powers of invisibility.  As a child, Young Trellie would probably say things like sneaking in places I didn't belong or trying to save someone in trouble.  However, fast-forward to adulthood and all I want to do is hide from people 🤷 lol. That random person comes by my desk (Gone)! That one neighbor/family member that just pops up at your house (Gone)! That one honey-do list you forgot to finish and the lady is opening the door (Gone Gone lol)!  I mean I am not a parent, but I am willing to bet a few of my followers would like to disappear when the kids call their names lol (GONE)!

See, that is what adulthood does to you; it sucks your energy and makes you want to do basic things with superpowers lol.  Do I have to say it?

"I HATE IT HERE!"

What is your superpower?  What would you do with it as an adult?  Honestly, I am not mad with Hancock at all these days lol!  That man had a right to be grouchy lol!!

P.S. if you have not done so already, please go follow my IG page! I will work more in 2022 to do both blogs and videos (wish me luck 🤞🏾lol).  @trellietrell_da_pe_hatesahood

Thanks for everyone rocking with Trellie Trell Da PE!

When I Get Older, I Will Be Alright!!

You would not believe how many times I stated these words when I was younger: “When I get older, I will be good.”  I do not know why but Young Trellie always believe that being an adult meant things would go better.  That was such a broad and wrong accusation 🤣. In fact, when I got older, things really got more complicated lol.  The idea that growing up would fix everything was so crazy, but I actually believed it lol.  Childhood issues or problems (some, not all) were minimal compared to the things we face as adults lol.  Also, the concept of waiting for something before you can do anything is a theory I cannot get with anymore.  The thought that I must wait on this “level up” in order to be happy just is a bunch of bologna. Why wait to do something if I have the tools and desire to do it now?  I once found myself in this type of hole whenever I was studying for my engineering exam.  For some reason, I felt like certain things could not be done until it was completed. It took me a while, but I did get over that mindset. Also, eventually I got over that hurdle (test) too.  Nowadays, I go with the flow. This whole concept of getting everything perfect before doing something will keep you stuck forever.  If that was the case, my blog would still be a thought lol.  I had to put perfection aside and just go with what I had.  Sometimes, if we just start it then the rest will reveal itself.  So Young Trellie you were wrong, I will not be alright when I grow up; but, you know what?  That is okay!  I am learning and continuing to grow in this thing called adulthood.  Oh yeah, did I mention, I HATE IT HERE!

FYI: See picture above for me patiently waiting for this perfect life Young Trellie envisioned!! 🤣🤣

🤔Who Is The Favorite?🤔

Growing up I do not think I ever once wondered who the favorite sibling was. Maybe it is because for majority of my life I was kind of the only child in the house.  Therefore, I had no one to share the parentals with lol. However, the older I get Trellie Trell ponders more on this topic, and it is quite clear that the favorite is me lol 🤷. Now, I am not saying I had any special treatment growing up (I did 🤣) because that was not the case.  My parents still instilled the same values/love in me that they did in my older siblings. However, I do realize small things now that I am older that did not register to me as a kid. One story that comes to mind, is when my Pops bought me a mini weed eater because the larger one was too long for me at that time.  Now to you that makes sense, but I can recall my older brother at my age struggling with the larger weed eater lol.  Pops really did not care about him (just kidding) lol. I only came to this realization maybe a month or two ago that both parents may have loved me more lol (just joking). It was also brought to my attention recently by a reliable source that maybe my favoritism extended outside of my home too.  Apparently, I was the favorite at the cousins home too. Well, that was until they had their own son lol.  So, I guess I had to share the title then lol. If you are sitting and wondering if you are the favorite? Let me help you, you are not lol.  The favorite never wonders 🤷 (harsh I know) lol. This topic alone helps me confirm that: I hate adulthood lol.  Being the favorite and an adult really does not give you much leverage.  However, I do get my favorite meals whenever I go home!! That is a blessing in itself!!

Ain't No Father's Day!! (Just Kidding🤣)

Fathers are critical for the family!  They are the head of the households.  Yet every year on the 3rd Sunday in June they are always disrespected lol.  I too used to be a part of the disrespect (Sorry Pops).  Especially being a mama’s boy, I always made sure Mother’s Day was perfect; however, for Father’s Day it was always an afterthought. Why is it this way?  Why do we do so little for the males in our lives? I think it is because as men we are expected to just go with the flow. Young Trellie knew that Pops would always be appreciative of anything I got him.  My Pops is an old school country man, and it did not take much to make him happy. Therefore, I could get away with the bare minimum.  However, the older I got the more I realized I had to step it up for Father’s Day lol.  No longer do I wait to the last minute lol.  Nowadays, the siblings and I prep by asking Big Red (moms) ahead of time what he need/wants. Being a grown up, you really learn how lopsided the advertising is for Mother’s Day vs. Father’s Day lol.  It really sucks for the fathers I can tell you that 😀! So, do the right thing by the man and make his day special too.  The father in your life does not have to be the man that helped create you; it can be any male figure in your life that was significant in your upbringing!  I know that everyone was not as fortunate as I was to have a father figure in the house; however, everyone did have a father figure they could go to. Throw away the socks, ties, and whatever else common gift we get dads and get something more meaningful lol.  I hate it here, but I love my Pops!

Happy Father’s Day to all the hardworking men!

Let's Get Faded!!

Before I begin this week’s rant, I want to say: “I am only talking about haircuts!” lol.  Now on with the show!  I can recall growing up and going to the barbershop on Saturday mornings. Two things were for certain: (1) I was going to be there all day & (2) the shop talk was going to be crazy lol.  If you are not familiar with shop talk, it is our time to discuss any topics.  It is a man’s safe place lol.  Young Trellie would love going to the shop though because I would meet other kids and I could always keep the change after paying for the cut.  Do you remember when cuts were like $9 or $12? Or what about picking a number from the haircut poster?  I always picked a different number but somehow ended up with the same haircut lol.  Let us just say I was consistent 🤣. Now let us fast forward to adulthood and three things still have not change: (1) you will be in the shop all day (unless you set an appointment), (2) shop talk is still crazy lol, & (3) my haircut choice is still consistent (taper fade until I am bald headed lol).  Cost on the other hand, I would love to pay $15 or under for a haircut these days. If your haircut is ever that cheap, expect a pushed back line or terrible fade 🤷 lol.  No lie, paying for a decent haircut, these days is expensive lol.  I can now understand when women complain about paying to get their head done lol.  Even though I am sure theirs is even higher these days lol.  Why is it so hard to find a nice barber outside of your hometown?  It took me years in Houston to find a nice barber that did not require me taking out a loan lol.  Can I just go ahead and say it?  I hate it here lol!!! I really wish I could call my moms and have her pay for my haircuts lol. Or I could have paid attention whenever my pops and brother used to cut my hair smh🤦.  Oh well, too late nowadays.

Haircut Tip:  If ever in a new shop and everyone is busy but that one barber, well you better either wait or leave lol.  Never, and I repeat NEVER, go to the free barber lol.

Dear Mamas, You Are Appreciated!!

Mom is probably the first word we all spoke as a toddler lol. If it was not, then I am sure it was in the first three lol.  I do not know about you, but mama has been a name I always called when I was growing up. Actually, I still call my lady to this day 🤷.  Whether it is for good or bad news.  Now if you read my previous posts, you would know that I had a wonderful stable of women (mothers) that raised me; they all deserve their flowers today! A mom’s job is never complete, and they never get to have a sick day, even when they really need it.  My mom better known as “Big Red” was already a pro at being a mom by the time I came along lol. At least that is what she thought 🤣lol.  I would like to think that I brought her some unusual challenges the first four did not lol. Besides, I could not get away with too much because my sis aka “Mom #2” did not play any games lol. You can get away with that when you are 14 years apart in age lol.  Young Trellie did not know any better. Growing up I loved being around my moms, they were my friends and biggest supporters.  I can recall a few times now that they were putting in countless hours to ensure I was able to take part in activities.  I did not realize how busy I was growing up with all my extra activities lol.  Let us fast forward to adulthood and I still feel the same way about these ladies.  I do not think there is anything they can ask, and I would not attempt to do.  After all, they are part of the reasons I am where I am today.  Moms should always be cherished! They endear a lot for their babies (side note: Red still call all of us her babies and I am the youngest at 33 lol).  The older I get, the more I realize that a mom is not just for the woman who birthed us.  Over the years, I have had a few ladies who did not birth me; however, they definitely helped in my upbringing. So, to all the moms, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, friends, etc. to all you wonderful women: YOU ARE APPRECIATED!!  Take sometime today and call or hug a mother figure.  Especially, during these crazy Covid times, anything can change!

P.S.  I still hate it here in adulthood 🙄lol, but I love 🥰 my mamas!!!

My Brother & Me!

If you were a big Nickelodeon fan like I was, then you would know exactly where this title came from lol.  Consider this post a bonus topic that came to me randomly this weekend lol.  I usually bash all things about adulthood that suck lol; however, this time I want to give flowers to my big brother.  Like the show my older brother and I were best friends and always fighting, if that makes sense lol.  I believe he was not ready to lose the title of being the baby anymore.  After all, he held that title for almost nine years and then I came along lol.  My brother and I had a special bond! Even though I have three other siblings, Polo was the only one I truly felt was my brother.  The older siblings’ kind of took on a more parental role in my life.  I would not dare talk back to them lol (once I did and did not end pretty fyi 😟). My big bro was very influential in my life; he taught me the ropes and was one of my role models growing up.  He is charming, he has a friendly personality, and he always been a fashion icon lol.  Those are just a few traits I have picked up from him; however, it is the sides no one ever saw that always stood out to me. Even at a young age, I could see what he was doing and made sure to follow his footsteps. I will not expose him too much but a couple things I always admired about him was: (1) he treated everyone the same & (2) when joking around he never brings in personal elements to hurt someone.  I do not even know if he knew I was watching but that has always been something I admired about him and wanted to duplicate.  Not to mention, he made sure I was always the freshest kid in daycare lol.  Whatever he did or wherever he went, you better believe I was right there 🤣. I even can recall one time he decided to go bald headed and this 5th or 6th grader decided to do the same thing lol.  Glad I do not have a funny shaped head lol.  Fast forward to adulthood and I am still the little brother just watching my bro and amazed at what he has accomplished.  Him, along with my parents and other siblings, are really the reason I am the way I am today: determined, hardworking, outgoing, and a jokester lol. One thing Trell always hated though was everyone telling me we looked alike lol.  I mean it is already bad enough we act alike now add clone to it lol.   Oh well, I have gotten over it over the years.  I mean there are worse people to look like 🤷lol!

Who Wants Superpowers?

First off, Happy New Year to everyone!  I know it has been a while! Did you miss me? No, okay then 🙂 lol.  Secondly, I need to give thanks...
