Fathers are critical for the family! They are the head of the households. Yet every year on the 3rd Sunday
in June they are always disrespected lol.
I too used to be a part of the disrespect (Sorry Pops). Especially being a mama’s boy, I always made
sure Mother’s Day was perfect; however, for Father’s Day it was always an
afterthought. Why is it this way? Why do
we do so little for the males in our lives? I think it is because as men we are
expected to just go with the flow. Young Trellie knew that Pops would always be
appreciative of anything I got him. My
Pops is an old school country man, and it did not take much to make him happy.
Therefore, I could get away with the bare minimum. However, the older I got the more I realized
I had to step it up for Father’s Day lol.
No longer do I wait to the last minute lol. Nowadays, the siblings and I prep by asking Big
Red (moms) ahead of time what he need/wants. Being a grown up, you really learn
how lopsided the advertising is for Mother’s Day vs. Father’s Day lol. It really sucks for the fathers I can tell
you that 😀! So, do the right thing by the man and make his day
special too. The father in your life does
not have to be the man that helped create you; it can be any male figure in
your life that was significant in your upbringing! I know that everyone was not as fortunate as
I was to have a father figure in the house; however, everyone did have a father
figure they could go to. Throw away the socks, ties, and whatever else common
gift we get dads and get something more meaningful lol. I hate it here, but I love my Pops!
Happy Father’s Day to all the hardworking
men!
