Ain't No Father's Day!! (Just Kidding🤣)

Fathers are critical for the family!  They are the head of the households.  Yet every year on the 3rd Sunday in June they are always disrespected lol.  I too used to be a part of the disrespect (Sorry Pops).  Especially being a mama’s boy, I always made sure Mother’s Day was perfect; however, for Father’s Day it was always an afterthought. Why is it this way?  Why do we do so little for the males in our lives? I think it is because as men we are expected to just go with the flow. Young Trellie knew that Pops would always be appreciative of anything I got him.  My Pops is an old school country man, and it did not take much to make him happy. Therefore, I could get away with the bare minimum.  However, the older I got the more I realized I had to step it up for Father’s Day lol.  No longer do I wait to the last minute lol.  Nowadays, the siblings and I prep by asking Big Red (moms) ahead of time what he need/wants. Being a grown up, you really learn how lopsided the advertising is for Mother’s Day vs. Father’s Day lol.  It really sucks for the fathers I can tell you that 😀! So, do the right thing by the man and make his day special too.  The father in your life does not have to be the man that helped create you; it can be any male figure in your life that was significant in your upbringing!  I know that everyone was not as fortunate as I was to have a father figure in the house; however, everyone did have a father figure they could go to. Throw away the socks, ties, and whatever else common gift we get dads and get something more meaningful lol.  I hate it here, but I love my Pops!

Happy Father’s Day to all the hardworking men!

Let's Get Faded!!

Before I begin this week’s rant, I want to say: “I am only talking about haircuts!” lol.  Now on with the show!  I can recall growing up and going to the barbershop on Saturday mornings. Two things were for certain: (1) I was going to be there all day & (2) the shop talk was going to be crazy lol.  If you are not familiar with shop talk, it is our time to discuss any topics.  It is a man’s safe place lol.  Young Trellie would love going to the shop though because I would meet other kids and I could always keep the change after paying for the cut.  Do you remember when cuts were like $9 or $12? Or what about picking a number from the haircut poster?  I always picked a different number but somehow ended up with the same haircut lol.  Let us just say I was consistent 🤣. Now let us fast forward to adulthood and three things still have not change: (1) you will be in the shop all day (unless you set an appointment), (2) shop talk is still crazy lol, & (3) my haircut choice is still consistent (taper fade until I am bald headed lol).  Cost on the other hand, I would love to pay $15 or under for a haircut these days. If your haircut is ever that cheap, expect a pushed back line or terrible fade 🤷 lol.  No lie, paying for a decent haircut, these days is expensive lol.  I can now understand when women complain about paying to get their head done lol.  Even though I am sure theirs is even higher these days lol.  Why is it so hard to find a nice barber outside of your hometown?  It took me years in Houston to find a nice barber that did not require me taking out a loan lol.  Can I just go ahead and say it?  I hate it here lol!!! I really wish I could call my moms and have her pay for my haircuts lol. Or I could have paid attention whenever my pops and brother used to cut my hair smh🤦.  Oh well, too late nowadays.

Haircut Tip:  If ever in a new shop and everyone is busy but that one barber, well you better either wait or leave lol.  Never, and I repeat NEVER, go to the free barber lol.

Who Wants Superpowers?

First off, Happy New Year to everyone!  I know it has been a while! Did you miss me? No, okay then 🙂 lol.  Secondly, I need to give thanks...
